    . . . and this is why! It seems another 1/3 of the fleet started and headed directly out into the strong flood, heading east. That is Alcatraz over to the left of the picture. We suddenly realized that not only was there warm sunshine out there, but there was WIND! So we headed that way. The other 1/3 third of the fleet was heading North, riding the current to warm winds and Red Rock. That is what makes the 3BF such a great event. With all competitors deciding for themselves what course to sail, the huge fleet breaks into separate fleets heading off in different directions. Which group made the right choice? - by Sunday night, we are still waiting for the results.
