Introduction

Hello, my name is Ken and I am a sailaholic. I have tried kicking the habit with no luck. Therefore I seek others with the same addiction. In 2009 I lived in Seattle and did not get much time on the Bay. 2010 will be different.

How would you describe your sailing experience? At the end of your description, include a title for yourself (look at other profiles, or the about page for ideas)

I have been sailing since I was 17 and on the Bay for the last 12 years. Cruising, racing, sunny or cold, I don't care. But rain.... I hate rain. When it rains my inner sissy wimp tells me to stay at home and eat cookies. So that is what I do.

What type of boats have you sailed on - or dream of sailing on? what sort of sailing do you do? Cruising, racing, beercans, YRA . . . Transpac??

I have sailed on lots of different boats except cats. One of the first was one I built as a kid. It sank the first time I put it into the water. I don't build boats anymore. My profile pic is an Islander 36 past the Gate. I barfed a lot that day.

If you are a private boat owner -- please describe your vessel in as much detail as you can.

I don't own a boat but belong to OCSC in Berkeley (510-843-4200 www.ocscsailing.com). The best sailing club in the world. If you are not a member, you should join.

Do you have any US sailing, or ASA certificates? Do you Bareboat Charter?

ASA BBC skipper and squid cleaner. I sail almost every week, on weekdays. Weekends are a bit problematic. Typically, meet at OCSC around 10-11 and back to the barn by 4:00. Seldom do I get lost...but bring extra sandwiches and underwear.

Are you disabled, or have limited mobility? You'll be welcomed, but it's very important for skippers to know ahead of time to keep everyone safe while sailing (you included).

People say I am a bit dim witted at times but I don't believe them until the next day's youtube videos....

Additional Information

"The bay is a wonderful but very challenging sailing venue. I enjoy laid back easy going people and having a good time. But always always respect the water and the weather because safety is my first priority."
