Kfog Kaboom is May 22 at Candlestick point. They will have fireworks just after dark and music all afternoon. We could have several boats meet there and tie up or just individually anchor off and listen to music and watch fireworks. Could sail during the day and relax in the late afternoon till the fireworks happen. Open for suggestions.
We will be sailing down to Candlestick Point and arriving for the fireworks show at about 7pm. It might be fun to raft up at the show which is at 9pm. Will any others be sailing down to the show? This would be a great place to hang out and meet!
Would be great if we could get a group together to head out on the Bay and watch the Blue Angels on October 10th & 11th.
Anyone up for a day sail, out of Sausalito, to Paradise Cove, off the Marin coast? I'd charter a 36' probably, take 4-6 people, nice sail over, with the tides it looks like. Anchor in the cove, eat a good lunch (people get to try their hands at bringing something special), relax, then sail more, return to dock 5-5:30. Could be either Saturday or Sunday. Let me know what you think.
Going to Paradise Cove and anchoring for lunch is a great idea, why limit it to a single boat? I propose that multiple boats leave from multiple locations and we all meet in the Paradise Cove area to raft up. We did this successfully in Clipper Cove, why not take that to Paradise?
Kame Richards is holding a couple of seminars in February and March on Bay tides and currents. You can read more about it here: http://ocscsailingblog.com/2009/12/21/kame-richards-tides-seminar-at-the-bay-model/. It'd be good to get this on the GotWaW calendar to help spread the word.
On the 1st Saturday of each month, subject event is held starting (I think) at 8:00 p.m., in the hold of the old Balcutha, in S.F.'s North Beach. People can either join in, just listen, and/or lead -- or even sing solo on a known chanty. The park district runs the event with a ranger leading. Reservations must be made with the park district, particularly for groups.
The Pacific Cup Yacht Club in conjunction with California Maritime will be hosting a US Sailing approved - Safety At Sea Seminar on Feb. 6. Moderator is Chuck Hawley from West Marine. This seminar satisfies the requirements of the Pac Cup 2010 Notice of Race, as well as other Category 1 races. For more information and to sign up go to www.pacificcup.org.
We've got a bunch of folks who want to watch the fireworks from a boat, way more than can fit on one boat. Luckily we've got more than one skipper/owner who likes this idea as well. Coordinating this is difficult however. So help us out -
If you like this idea, then go here: http://www.gotwaw.com/messages/boards/thread/9353263/#36469767 so we can talk about it.
