The Sarcoma Cup is a multiday event. There will be a 'Pursuit Race Around the Islands' on Sunday.
This is a great event. Starting near Berkeley, the each boat will have a specific start time. The start times are chosen so that all boats will, if sailed equally well, finish at the same time. Of course, this never happens, and the outcome of the race is determined by how well each boat is sailed. The race course is around various Islands in San Francisco Bay.
A trophy presentation will be held following the race. We'll deliver the boat back to its home port at Pier 39 after the race. The delivery is a separate event with a separate cost (look at the upcoming events for this opportunity).
John (Helm/Tactician/Pit), Peter (bowman), Andy (Spin Trimmer) and Paul (helm) are the core members of the race crew.
Wayne Zittel of JWorld, a Professional Sailor, Pacific Cup and Transpac veteran will be on board.
Lorraine Palmer, a veteran of the Global, Round the World Challenge Race, and Pit Boss on the J120 'Jolly Mon' will be on board.
This will be an extraordinary opportunity for you to experience the thrills of Yacht Racing on a J120 high performance sailboat on San Francisco Bay.
Ah, Trophies! yes, we did well, stay tuned for more information (including some rail meat pictures).
Janet bought me a brownie during our Saturday Morning Crew Breakfast. After helming 6 upwind and downwind legs on the Saturday Buoy Races, I wanted some rail time with my sailing buddies. So Janet took the helm after the Pursuit Race start on Sunday, and expertly brought us to a 4th place finish in a fleet of 30+ boats. Way to go Janet! The brownie was delicious.
Race Results are out: http://www.regatt...
Look for 'Got Wind and Water' in the yacht Club column.
