We've secured our charter of the J120 'JWorld' for the Sarcoma Cup.
Now we have to organize the crew, prepare for the race and . . . uh, oh yes, pay the expenses of the event.
It has turned out to be rather expensive compared to our past events, but amazingly cheap compared to what the other entrants in the race have had to shell out - B.O.A.T. stands for "Bring Out Another Thousand", and anyone who owns a race boat knows this well.
A BIG thank you to all who sailed with us on the WNS events, we raised $548.07 that way. Everyone who contributed by RSVP'ing (the 'Aug 19th' event) will get their pick for crew spots during the 'round the bouys' races on Saturday and the 'pursuit round the islands' race on Sunday.
Our expenses will top $3,000 before we've completed the race, a part of which goes directly to the BeatSarcoma.org charity that is behind this competition.
Paul Wiesmann, Peter Antypas, and John Cabrall 'loaned' us the $1,450 we needed beyond their own race contributions ($200 each) and the 'WNS' contributions to secure the boat for the competition. The money collected from the other participants will first go to paying them back the $1,450, and then will go towards the other expenses of the effort. Anything beyond the expenses of the group will go to BeatSarcoma.org
Please choose your participation level by RSVP'ing for the (4) events throughout the weekend.
