This Meetup repeats every week on Wednesday until September 29, 2010.

This is a typical Wednesday Night Sail.

The weekly Wednesday Night Sails have been put up on the Got Wind and Water site as a recurring event. Most Wednesday Nights are different in one way or the other, so it's hard to describe one as 'typical'. Some weeks we have more than one skipper and are able to charter more than one boat. The charter cost is significant, so reserving two boats is risky from a financial point of view. The fund helps with that, but doesn't eliminate the risk.

So as the RSVP's come in and folks contribute to the fund, the event description gets updated to reflect what we are able to do. Last week, and this week, we (I) got caught flat footed. We'd hoped to charter a boat for the whole day and schedule a second boat for the evening. That didn't happen as planned. So this Wednesday Night sail represents the type of sail we did last year. We take up to 10 people and fill a single boat. People get to know each other and experience sailing on the Olympic Circle.

Tonight that boat is the J109 Knot's 2

John, I just found an email and I believe is says that there is not any Day sail? Only the evening sail. Right?

Just got home from work and it is 0115am Aug 4th, but still no meet time for the Aug 4th Day sail? I suppose it might be something like meet at 930 for 10:00 sail? I'll will have to check the blog site again after some sleep :-)

I've now limited the sail to 10, and the usual thing is happening, some can't make it at the last minute. I'm going to let nature run it's course.

Hey John! Although Sarah and I were looking forward to our time on the water tomorrow I think we can help alleviate the situation. We found our dream apt in Sausalito and had to sign a lease (and prepare to move) in a hurry. We won't be able to join the crew tomorrow. Hopefully other folks can take our spots! See y'all soon... Marc

Can't wait for the trip! Like Phil, I was wondering if there was a meetup time for the day sail. Thanks!

There are a lot of things you need to sail the San Francisco Bay. It's a long list. New sailors grow into it. We left at around 6:15 pm. There were 6 of us, not the 14 that were on the list several days ago. Organizing the day and evening event required patience. The same sort of patience we needed to get through 20-25 knots against a short steep chop on a close reach on a J109 with a reef. But we got ourselves through that and over to the wind line on the northern edge of the OC. We then needed some patience to get past the Angel Island Wind Shadow. Flexibility is another. Going from 14 to 6 provided us with an opportunity. Everyone on board was flexible with a last minute change of plans. The outcome was a fantastic experience for everyone. There were several who'd never arrived at Sam's via a sailing yacht. They can't say that anymore. Sailing buoy to buoy, back to the Berkeley Marina under dark fog, with city lights all the way around - what an experience!
    •  great! sailed to Sam's; night sail back with beautiful city and marin lights... gorgeous! fun group to sail with!
    •  Arrived anticipating the usual nice 2 hour WNS and was pleasantly suprised by new plans to sail late into the evening for a fantastic evening into Night cruise on the Bay!!! Great group of sailors. by the way who took home the Oreos? :-D

Your organizer's refund policy for 8/4 WNS J109 Knot's 2

Refunds offered if:

Additional notes: It's a contribution - the money goes into a fund that reimburses skippers (sometimes) for the charter fee(s) of the boats we use throughout the year, . . . so, there will be no refunds. Email me if you want to sail without contributing to the fund.

Payments you make go to the organizer, not to Meetup. You must make refund requests to the organizer.
