I'll be chartering a 33-foot sailboat out of Club Nautique in Alameda. I can accommodate a total of six people including myself. I'll need at least one experienced crew member and the rest can be novices.
So far there is a total of four people. I have room for two more people. If there are six people, the cost will be approx $65 per person. If there less people, the cost will be more. So approx cost could be from $65 to $95.
The intinerary will be to meet at 10:00 AM and launch by 10:30 AM. I will leave it up to the crew on the details.
We can dock someplace and stop by for lunch at one of the many restaurants. Or we can just sail and have lunch on the boat. We should be back between 6:00 to 6:30 PM.
Please bring lunch (just in case we cannot dock), drinks, and wear layered clothing and non-skid shoes. It can get awfully cold and wet, so please be prepared.
Sailing novices are welcomed. If you've never sailed before, I love to teach. We'll have a nice rotation so everyone can get hands on sailing.
Everyone was calm, and the crew performed admirably under "pressure." Fortunately, there was no fire, just smoke. I would highly advise all skippers to go through fire scenarios with their crew; i.e., where the fire extinguishers are located and how to use them. Fire is the worst enemy on a boat.
Best of all, we get to sail another day - FOR FREE...
Due to the low turnout, I've decided to move this event to Club Nautique in Alameda. There's a 29-foot Hunter that's still available at a more reasonable cost. Address is:
1150 Ballena Blvd. Suite 161 Alameda, CA 94501 (510) 865-4700
“ It's always great to sail with Ken A. We had an unexpected challenge. We were motoring about a mile south of the Bay Bridge when our engine started emitting squealing sounds. We smelled smoke and turned the engine off. No fire thankfully. We sailed back to Alameda and called Club Nautique for a tow back to the dock. We have rescheduled the sail fora future date. ”

Ken, with the change to Alameda, you might want to update the description and venue info.

Looks like great fun. Sorry I can't make it this time. I'll be doing an Asymetrical Spinnaker course all weekend on a J105. I'll see you on the water.
Sorry I couldn't make the 7/17th sail due to a scheduling conflict. Can't wait to get out there with you all. Rod
