This is not a 'real' event. It just looks like one.

This is a way for us to communicate how you update your profile questions.

1) Go to the Got Wind and Water Home page. Click on YOUR profile picture in the Sailors box.

2) Look for your profile name

The picture to the upper right is what I see when I click on my name - your result should be similar - click on the picture to see a larger version.

3) See the little pencil with 'Edit group profile' next to it? - click on that.

4) Read the questions and answer them.

5) I will read your answers, interpret them and update your title to reflect your answers. It may take several days for us to do this.

Titles are important to the other people who go sailing with you. The first time you RSVP 'Yes' for an event, the other people who you will join on the boat need to have some idea of who you are.

If you haven't answered, or updated the questions, we may automatically give you the title-

Hasn't Updated the profile questions (yet)

It's ok if you don't want to use a picture, although some Skippers / Event hosts may require it*). It's ok if your Meetup name is not your full name or is a nickname. It is not ok if you haven't answered or updated the questions in your Got Wind and Water group profile.

Sailing is not a walk in the park, or a public meeting in a coffee shop. We, the members of the group, gather together to do something that takes place on a boat, on the water, and involves your active participation out in the weather.

We don't always restrict ourselves to 'ideal' sailing weather. We often go out rain or shine, windy or calm.

Novices are welcome, beginners are welcome, but the skipper of the boat has to know ahead of time what the skill level of the participants are. There has to be a minimum number of people with enough experience to work the boat. That's what the questions and titles are for. They help the skippers and hosts figure that out.

*Skippers and Event hosts always have the right to adjust the mix of people on the boat. If you find yourself getting bumped off, understand that it may be that the skipper or event host has to make an adjustment so that the mix of people is appropriate to the sailing conditions forecast for the event.

If you want to comment on this process, feel free to RSVP Yes to this non-event. If you do, please use the comment feature in the RSVP process to let us know if this was helpful to you.

It works. I lost my info because I was too slow to register and had some issues updating it again until I followed the instructions here.

I'm letting this 'non' event slip into our history. It was confusing to some, but did result in some comments and some people did in fact update their profile questions as a result.

Very interesting way to get info, and fun, too!
