I'm racing in this Regatta, are you?

Please RSVP YES if you are, and in your comment, state which boat (Boat Type, Name).

Throughout 2010, we are going to keep track of which members are racing on which boats in which regattas. It's our way of spreading the word about the people that are members of the Got Wind and Water Sailing Network, who are active in the sport of Yacht Racing on San Francisco Bay.

If you are NOT racing, but want too, RSVP 'Maybe' and state in the comments what you would like to race on. Make sure that your Got Wind and Water profile is filled out.

We will use these RSVP's to help you connect with the Owners and Crew Captains of Race boats.

Most often, these people are looking for specific types of people with specific skills. We want them to use Got Wind and Water to find the people they are looking for.

We will also use these Race Events to put in post race comments and photo albums. We want the sailing community to know that we are networking active sailors of all levels and positions, including those that race.

Great day on Sunday. Our good captain of our Express 27, Steve weighted the pros and cons and we decided to be in the CCW birgate. We started our earily under light winds and headed for Racoon straights first. This was the 1st time I had ever done a race like this and as we came around Angel and passed by the CW group it was a thrill to see everyone zipping by. This is also the 1st time I had been in a race where everyone beats for the finish line at the same time. Used to finishing only with those in the same class. We came across the line in 50th place with what seemed like HUGE 40' plus Benteau bearing down behind us... the key word here being BEHIND. As usualy thanks much Captian Steve.

After some head scratching, (and a postponement while the race committee waited for the wind to fill in from somewhere), the race was on! Kuai chose to sail the 'Clockwise' direction. Head for Alcatraz, then across the slot to Raccoon Straights. AS we approached Angel Island we saw Bodacious doint the CCW direction. I thought the direction was a close call. As we approached the finish line we could see the boats that had gone the other way approaching from the south. Bodacious wasn't one of them. Later I got an email from Benita, who was on Bodacious. They'd placed tenth. Kuai placed 42nd. 007, with Andy and Gabe aboard, edged us out, getting across the line about 5 seconds ahead of us to grab 41st. Bradley on Chorus held both Kuai and 007 off on the CW direction and got 37th. Aaron on Ay Caliente! did the CCW direction and wound up in with 53rd.
