Hello!

Join us for a relaxing day on the water Sunday December 20.

Weather permitting, we will be departing from Alameda at 10am on "Kyra's Joy", a Catalina 36.

There is no charge for this event but the crew will be covering the dock/mooring fee at Angel Island. Room for two or three crew. Preference given to those who have not previously sailed with us, so even if the event appears full I encourage you to sign up.

This will be a relaxed daysail with our destination being Ayala Cove, which is across Racoon Straight from Tiburon on Angel Island. Assuming availability of a slip or mooring at Ayala Cove (they are first-come-first-serve), we will spend the afternoon at Angel Island with the rest of the "Winter Sailstice" group.

We are pretty relaxed and flexible. If you are a novice, I enjoy teaching. If you are experienced, less work for me!

Meet at Marina Village Gate 9 at 9:45am.

Please bring lunch, snacks, and a beverage of your choice. Be sure to wear non-marking deck shoes and bring warm clothing (the usual layers, foulies and PFD if you have them). Sailing gloves would a good idea.

RSVP by 7pm Thursday the 17th.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

What a great day! I think everyone had a great time. Thanks to Mark, Jason, Eric and Bruce for the crew work and camaraderie. We had a bit of rain on our return from Angel Island but with it came a little wind and, thanks to Mark's foredeck skills, we were able to set the asym and have a really nice run almost all the way back to the Bay Bridge before the wind died. A big "Thank You" to John for coming up with the idea for "Winter Sailstice"!

All around great day! Really enjoyed the conversations with everyone on Kyra's Joy and at Ayala Cove. Peter and Georgeanne were fantastic hosts! Not to mention good Samaritans, helping tow a stranded sailboat that might have been stuck rowing for hours. I learned a ton of practical sailing from Peter and Mark. Bruce and Eric shared some interesting stories. Look forward to the next sailing adventure!
