Nick Hayes, in his book, "Saving Sailing" uses a phrase:

Commitment to Collective Fun

I love that.

So we are celebrating sailing today with a GOTWAW Rendezvous. Three boats are sailing from three separate harbors today, John Cabrall is skippering the J105 'Tenacity' from OCSC, Jeremy Westerman the Benetau 311 'Zara' from Modern Sailing School & Club in Sausalito, and Peter Pillsbury is sailing his Catalina 36 'Kyra's Joy' from Marina Village in Alameda.

Each of these boats is a separate GOTWAW event by itself.

We are all going to look out for each other, talk to each other on the radio, and Rendezvous together between Alcatraz and Pier 39 in the middle of our collective sails.

All in a Commitment to Collective Fun.

Thanks Nick

Well the large rock (Alcatraz) between you and us would explain the poor signal on the VHF! Glad that Tenacity and Zara managed to meet up. I think it would have take us another hour and a half to drift/sail over to where the other boats were.

Tenacity and Zara rendezvoused between Alcatraz and Angel Island in light, drifting conditions. We on Tenacity tried to get Zara to toss us some cookies and brownies, but alas! we had to pop the chute and head home with empty stomachs.
