I had originally posted a event to sail to the Balcutha at the Maritime National Historic Park, enjoy the park, have something to eat and then enjoy the Sea Shanty singalong after the park closed.
But one of our special members scheduled a dinner to celebrate the friendships that came about at the beginning of the Got Wind and Water group. As the organizer, how could I not attend that dinner?
So I've moved the original Sea Shanty Sail to next month, and I'm organizing, with Phyllis's help, this substitute.
This substitute sail is open to the people who originally RSVP'd Yes for that other sail. Myself, Phyllis, who lost her, ah, novice status(?) a few weeks ago, Maryam (our Glee Master) and Fang are the cornerstone cast of characters for the sail, and as others from the original RSVP check in, we'll rebuild the list.
We are going to go for a 4 hour sail in the middle of the day on the J105 'Y', also known as 'The Yellow Boat' or it's formal name 'Tenacity'. The group will gather at 10 am, sail from 11 am to 3 pm, and get the boat put away so that Maryam and I can get down to the dinner in time.
This is a charter sail. It will cost $285 to charter the boat from OCSC. There is a suggested contribution of $50 to share in the cost to charter the boat.
Got Wind and Water is dedicated to connecting people, and this suggested contribution is just that, suggested. Any and all that participate will contribute what they can, even if it is only a smile and a laugh - no one should let the prospect of sailing be clouded by a cost associated with it. I am prepared to handle any portion of the charter cost that is not met by monetary contributions.
If you don't have sailing gear, OCSC will rent it to you for a very small charge - $10 per set. I would rather someone rent gear than contribute to the cost of the charter if they are cash strapped.

It was great! Later today I'll 'rate the meetup' and add some photos (there was a lot of camera work!)
