Hello!
Join us for a relaxing day on the water Saturday November 7.
Weather permitting, we will be departing from Alameda at 11am on my Catalina 36 "Kyra's Joy".
There is no charge for this event. Room for two or three crew.
This will be a relaxed daysail with no particular plan or destination. If there is breeze, we'll likely head toward Alcatraz and then Raccoon Strait around Angel Island and return east of Treasure Island.
"Kyra's Joy" has recently come under my ownership and I will be shaking out a number of her systems over the next couple of months. While this cruise is just for relaxing, I am interested in getting to know folks who might be interested in participating in various projects and exercising various systems.
We are pretty relaxed and flexible. If you are a novice, I enjoy teaching. If you are experienced, less work for me!
Since this is the first meetup event I am offering and you might be wondering what you are getting yourself into, let me tell you a little about myself. I have been sailing for about 25 years and a boat owner for the last 15 or so. Recently I have moved up from a Santana 2023 to a 1987 Catalina 36. I actively sail in the Delta and both Monterey and SF Bays. I love cruising and enjoy racing. Recent notable experience includes a delivery cruise (Alameda to Newport Beach), a number of offshore races including the Windjammer and Ano Nuevo. I am a long-time member of the San Jose Sailing Club and an honorary member of the Santa Cruz Yacht Club (since I am the Director of the Junior Sailing Program there).
My partner, Georgianne, is a bit newer to sailing but what she might lack in experience is made up with her enthusiasm.
Meet at Marina Village Gate 9 at 10:30am.
Please bring lunch, snacks, and a beverage of your choice. Be sure to wear non-marking deck shoes and bring warm clothing (the usual layers, foulies and PFD if you have them). Sailing gloves would a good idea.
RSVP by 7pm Thursday evening.
Looking forward to seeing you there!

What a gorgeous weekend! With Rose, Julia, and David for crew, we had a very relaxing cruise. Our course took us motoring out of the Estuary and under the Bay Bridge looking for some breeze, which we finally found a little of and got some sailing in. We got as far as just west of Alcatraz before deciding it was time to head back.
Thanks for taking us out Peter and Georgianne. I loved the boat. Very nice and easy to steer. Looking forward to seeing you all again at some point.
Where did you guys get to? We looked, we called, we failed to find you.
Things are looking drier: Rain is no longer in the forecast for Saturday!
